Wizdom page layouts and page control
When you build content pages on your Wizdom intranet, these pages will be based on Wizdom page layouts. These layouts will enable Wizdom to work properly on a page level and include the Wizdom control panel that lets editors govern a selection of elements on a page level. Here, we will introduce you to the options Wizdom page layouts and the control panel offer intranet editors.
Wizdom page layouts
Wizdom features a collection of 13 page layouts which are templates that determine how a page should look and how content should be placed. Every template offers a different composition of content.
Every layout contains the Wizdom specific functionality that are a prerequisite for controlling Wizdom features on a page level. E.g. Wizdom page layouts enable Wizdom’s responsive design and social functionality.
When working in pages, you can easily shift between the page layouts available and choose another page layout for the page. The intranet admin enable some or all of Wizdom’s page layouts on a site level.
Wizdom page control for classic pages
All Wizdom’s page layouts include a control panel that provides editors and admins easy access to control a selection of page functions and elements.
The control panel will be visible in the right side of all web pages when the page is in edit mode.
Below, we will walk you through the page elements you can govern with the Control Panel.
For most pages, the Control Panel is divided into three tabs.
1) The ‘General’ tab
The ‘General’ tab offers you to set the following:
‘Date of audit’ defines when the content of the web page will need to be audited. Before the date arrives, the editor of the page will be notified that the page content needs to be reviewed for
By ticking ‘Hide page information’, you will remove the line on the web page displaying date and author of last modifications made to the web page.
Likewise, ticking the ‘Hide left menu‘ and ‘Hide
‘Enable social’ will allow users to like and comment on the web page.
NOTE: Corporate news pages offer a slightly different set of controls for the General tab. We will go through these later in this course.
2) The ‘Contact Settings’ tab
Under the Contact Settings tab, you can define who will be displayed as contact of the page’s content. It can be a person or a department. E.g. the HR department may be set as
If you tick the ‘Hide contact details’ field, no contact will be displayed
3) The ‘Relations’ tab
Under the Relations tab, you define topics and types of related content that will be displayed at the page. The topic(s) are selected from a term set defined by the site administrator.
Per default, all documents, news, pages, and people that are tagged with the topic or topics you have inserted in the ‘Related topic’ field, will be shown at the page. Tick ‘Hide related documents’, ‘news’, ‘pages’, and/or ‘people’ if you prefer not to show one or more of these content types as related content on the page.
Wizdom page control for modern pages
As for classic pages, modern pages with Wizdom’s page layouts include a control panel that provides editors and admins easy access to control a selection of page functions and elements.
The control panel will appear on the right side of all pages when you press ‘Page details’.
From here, you can add the following page properties: Author of the page, related topic, language, page contact, date of when the page needs review, and validation date.
